The Siuslaw National Forest is rescinding restrictions on campfires, effective immediately, it announced in a press release on Friday, September 18th.

Rainfall and cooler temperatures are the reason. “Campfires will be allowed outside of developed campgrounds and restrictions on the use of grills, chainsaws, off-highway vehicles, and smoking will be lifted.”

The Siuslaw National Forest is currently at “low” fire danger. The Oregon Department of Forestry’s website has information on the Western Lane District use restrictions.

It is still important, “to keep campfires small and away from vegetation. Before you leave a campfire, make sure it is cold to the touch,” the press release stated.
